A Warne is pleased to announce the successful installation of a new, highly sophisticated Inspection System for our in-house Slitting Machines.

The new system is set to further enhance our quality control procedures and complement our current inspection system.

Jonathan Moore (MD) stated that, ‘The ELSIS system will enable us to constantly monitor the surface of the running webs, assuring us that the smallest of defects will be detected, recorded reliably and dealt with accordingly. This means with a preprogramming facility we can target particularly relevant defects and ensure their removal from our film prior to dispatch. Its detection possibilities are endless and will therefore allow us to produce the highest quality film.’

The system has a resolution of down to 0.3mm² which enables us to find very small contaminants. It can also see and record visible film flow. All this enhances our quality and record keeping capability, thus ensuring that only film of the highest specification is dispatched to our customers.

We believe this time of year is all about giving. So this year we have chosen to support various charities and our Seasonal Donation has been included.

Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research

Around 28,500 people of all ages are diagnosed with a blood cancer in the UK every year. Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research are determined to give every person suffering with this illness the best possible chance of survival. Their research is focused on finding the causes, improving diagnosis and treatments as well as running ground breaking clinical trials. By funding research across the UK they ensure that all blood cancer patients receive the best possible care as well as being able to provide free information to patients and their families when they most need it!

Our main inspiration here is a very brave two year old little boy and grandson of Barbara our Accounts Manager. Sadly this year he was diagnosed with Leukaemia and is now undergoing treatment at Great Ormond Street hospital.

http://leukaemialymphomaresearch.org.uk

MEAK – Medical and Educational aid to Kenya

MEAK originally provided the collection, transportation and distribution of medical and educational aid free of charge, by UK donors to needy organisations in Kenya. Even though this work is still regarded as important they have prioritised their funding and now organise medical and surgical missions in the fields of paediatric cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, ophthalmology and orthopaedics.

In 2001 Professor David Anderson, one of the UK’s foremost paediatric cardiac surgeons was approached by MEAK and subsequently agreed to work on an on-going basis with teams from The Evelina Children’s Hospital at Guys and St Thomas’, all working without payment, on missions to Kenya. The first mission took place in January 2002 – then in 2003 MEAK provided a heart-lung machine to The Aga Khan hospital in Mombasa – and that same year MEAK carried out the first ever open-heart surgery in Kenya outside the capital.
http://www.meak.org

East Africa Crisis Appeal

More than 13 million people in Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, and the newly-formed Republic of South Sudan have been left in need of food, water and emergency healthcare because of one of the worst droughts in 60 years. Crops grown earlier in the year have failed due to lack of rain. Animals have been forced to go without food and many have died. Combined with this there has been a huge rise in global food prices.

The most severely affected areas are parts of Ethiopia, Kenya and Somalia and South Sudan.

High levels of malnutrition are leaving children vulnerable to diseases and cases of life threatening illnesses such as diarrhoea and measles are on the rise. Children and families are dying needlessly
http://www.dec.org.uk/appeals/east-africa-crisis-appeal

With very best wishes for a Happy Festive Season from all of us at A. Warne

Jonathan, Mark, Lee, Andrew, David, Susan, Barbara, Mary, Albert, John, Susan, Yan, Aleks, Kraig, Danny, Bachu, Raja, Matt, Ivan Johnathan and Courtney

We endeavour to provide the best polyester on the market. It is this principle of quality that has given our Polyester 312F its reputation of excellence.

In Brief

We endeavour to provide the best polyester PET Films on the market and will never compromise on quality to offer a cheaper, ‘second grade’ option. It is this principle of quality that has given our Polyester 312F its reputation of excellence.

PET Films (also known as PET Sheet or Polyester)

In Depth

Over the last century, we have come to know the importance of strong partnerships with our suppliers. After all, this is how we can ensure you’ll receive only the highest caliber of Polyester/PET film. One area in which this has proved vital is the supply of Polyester.

The inherent toughness of 312F Polyester combined with the scratch resistance of its coating means that faster machine speeds are achievable over alternative window patch films. Its ability to withstand great temperature differences means that 312F is as comfortable in the freezer as it is in the oven. Our PET film has very low moisture vapour transmission rate, giving increased shelf life; coupled with the anti-mist coating for chiller applications, this film has become the number one choice for sandwich cartons.

Typical applications

Thanks to its excellent machinability, our Polyester /PET is suited to a variety of applications including:

Window cartons

Packaging

Microwave packs

Graphic arts applications

Stationary

Industrial Components

Visors

Laser film base

PET sheet

Available from 36mu to 175mu

Wondering if Polyester/PET film (for example Melinex Film or Mylar Film) is compatible with your needs? Get in touch and we’ll be happy to help. All PET film prices are available upon request.

Leading the way in compostable films, our standard and anti-mist coated PLA is made from the renewable resource corn starch.

In Brief

Leading the way in compostable films, our standard and anti-mist coated PLA is made from the renewable resource corn starch.

In Depth

The environmental benefits of PLA are evident right from the production process – which uses 30-50% less fossil fuel than conventional films – through to disposal. Naturally biodegradable or industrially compostable, it degrades twice as fast as newspaper given the same conditions of temperature and humidity.

With the dramatic growth of landfill sites in our increasingly disposable culture, PLA provides an excellent solution in the search for compostable alternatives.

Typical applications

Tentered rather than blown to provide superior strength, PLA is suited to an array of applications including but not limited to:

Window cartons

Packaging

Graphic arts

Stationary

Industrial components

Available from 30mu to 40mu

Copies of compostability certificates are available on request.

In Brief

Combining unbeatable clarity with exceptional environmental credentials, Acetate is an excellent general purpose film that ticks all the right boxes.

In Depth

Made from 100% GM free, responsibly-sourced and sustainable wood pulp, Acetate is fully home-compostable. What’s more, due to its cellulosic nature, it is readily recyclable in its own right and can be recycled along with paper in a re-pulping process. Alternatively, a high calorific value of around 20MJ/kg makes Acetate an ideal film for energy recovery by incineration.

Typical applications

With its high gloss and remarkable clarity, Acetate is suitable for many uses including:

Window cartons

Visual Aids

Stationary

Shoe tagging

Animation

3D glasses (Coloured)

Available from 35mu to 250mu

Acetate is also available with a UV inhibitor, giving greatly increased UV absorption over standard grades.
